Psychoeducational/Psychological Evaluations
The psychoeducational/psychological evaluation includes a thorough assessment of intellectual and academic functioning, processing, and the emotional development of children, adolescents, and young adults. Specific areas include:
1. Learning Disabilities (e.g., dyslexia, processing issues)
2. Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder
3. Giftedness
4. Social-emotional functioning (anxiety, depression, anger, adjustment concerns, etc.)
Testing Process
Evaluations vary from 5 to 6½ hours usually spread over two days, depending on the age of the student/individual. Younger students may require shorter testing periods administered over multiple days. The testing process includes evaluations of intellectual functioning, processing skills in the areas of auditory, visual, memory, attention/concentration, and executive functioning, academic skills in the areas of basic reading skills, reading comprehension, listening comprehension, math calculation, math problem-solving, written expression and spelling, and a brief social-emotional assessment. Additional evaluations may be needed to rule out more significant social-emotional concerns.
